Photojournalist Kaung Sett Lin released in amnesty

A photojournalist of Myanmar Pressphoto Agency was among the thousands of prisoners granted amnesty by the ruling junta.
Photojournalist Kaung Sett Lin was freed from prison on January 4 to commemorate the country’s 76th Independence Day.
The junta granted amnesty to a total of 9,652 prisoners across the country as well as 114 foreign prisoners.
Kaung Sett Lin was among those arrested in the violent crackdown of Pan Pin Gyi road, Kyimyindaing township in Yangon on December 5, 2021.
Junta also sentenced a Myanmar Now photojournalist Sai Zaw Theik to 20 years imprisonment in September 2023.
Another photojournalist Soe Naing who was killed during three days of interrogation after he was arrested in December 2021 while taking pictures of the Silent Strike in Yangon.
