လွန်ခဲ့သော ၂ လ က
All three parts of the military group's 'sham' election have concluded.
As predicted, the military-backed Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) won a landslide victory across the country and will soon be able to form a government.
In an election boycotted by major parties such as the National League for Democracy (NLD) and the Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD), the USDP won comfortably.
In all three phases of the election, the USDP's rivals were seen to be trailing by a massive margin of votes compared to the party.
Part 1
In the first part of the election, where the coup leader himself cast a vote, all former military officers contesting in Naypyidaw won.
Winning the House of Representatives in the First Phase of the Election
House of Representatives
For the House of Representatives, USDP Chairman U Khin Yi (former Brigadier General) won in Zayyar Thiri Township, where the military headquarters is located in Naypyidaw. Others who won include former Lieutenant Colonel U Hla Swe, a 2010 former MP; former Commander-in-Chief (Air) General U Myat Hein; former Commander-in-Chief (Navy) General U Tin Aung San; the military commission's current Information Minister former Major General U Maung Maung Ohn; and former Brigadier General U Maung Myint.
Out of the 8 seats for the House of Representatives in Naypyidaw, 6 were won by military officers, and the remaining 2 seats were won by USDP civilians, U Win Htay and U Khin Maung Htay.
As a result of the first part of the election, the USDP secured 101 seats in the House of Representatives. Following them, the Naga National Party won 4 seats, the Pa-O National Organisation won 3 seats, the Unity and Democracy Party and the Shan Nationalities Democratic Party won 2 seats each, while the Arakan National Party and the Shanni (Tai-Leng) Solidarity Party won 1 seat each.

The USDP continues to dominate the House of Nationality as well, securing 21 seats. Following behind, the Arakan Front Party (AFP) won 4 seats, the National Unity Party (NUP) won 3 seats, and the Mon Unity Party (MUP), the Naga National Party (NNP), and the Wa National Party (WNP) won 1 seat each.
Dr. Aye Maung, a prominent politician, 2010 election winner, and chairman of the Arakan Front Party, lost to a USDP candidate in the Sittwe House of Nationality constituency under the first-past-the-post system.
In order for Dr. Aye Maung to contest the election, the military had granted him amnesty late last year for the remainder of his prison sentence.
Part (1) Election Results for the Region and State Hluttaws
Region and State Hluttaws
The USDP also won with decisive results in the Region and State Hluttaws.
The USDP secured 94 seats, followed by the Arakan Front Party with 5 seats. The Naga National Party, Zomi Congress for Democracy, and Arakan National Party won 4 seats each. The National Unity Party and Pa-O National Organisation won 3 seats each, while the People's Party, Shanni (Tai-Leng) Solidarity Party, and Congress of the New Chinland Party won 1 seat each.
Part 2
In this phase as well, the USDP led without any rivals.
Daw Sandar Min, a prominent politician and former MP for the National League for Democracy (NLD), contested this election as an independent candidate from Latha Township, Yangon Region.
After being expelled from the NLD, she planned to contest under the National Democratic Force (NDF), but as the party was abolished, she ran as an independent and lost to the USDP candidate in Latha Township.
Daw Sandar Min had previously defeated her opponents as a representative of the National League for Democracy in the 2012 by-election and the 2015 general election.
Winning the House of Representatives in the Second Phase of the Election
House of Representatives
The second part of the election was held in 100 townships, and the USDP secured 80 seats in the House of Representatives. The Pa-O National Organisation, the Karen National Democratic Party, the Kachin State People's Party, and the Danu Nationalities Democracy Party won 1 seat each.
Notably, an independent candidate also won a seat in the House of Representatives.
U Khin Hlaing (Zawtika), a businessman, has contested as an independent candidate numerous times, starting from the 2010 general election and including by-elections and municipal elections.
Aside from winning once as a committee member in the 2014 Yangon City Municipal Election, he had lost five times while representing Kyimyindine Township. Refusing to give up, U Khin Hlaing won in this election on his sixth attempt.

Therefore, even before Part 3 of the election was held, the Union Solidarity and Development Party already had 234 members across both houses. The coup military will appoint 166 representatives to parliament without needing to contest the election.
According to the 2008 Constitution, three groups in the Union Parliament will nominate three vice presidents, and the individual who receives more than half of the votes from the representatives in parliament is set to become the president.
