Military forces that entered inside Nyaung Zin Gyi village in Kanbulu district in Sagaing Region killed and burned the body of a 20-year-old mentally ill man, the Kyunhla-Kanbulu Strike Group in Kanbulu district said.

 

About 150 military personnel and Pyusawhtee militias entered the village and set on fire the houses at about 4:30 pm on March 23.

 

The soldiers also arrested a monk in the village, and allegedly stole the residents’ belongings, before retreating.

 

The same military column also entered Su Boke Kone village on March 22 and took the mobile phones and money amounting to 800,000 Kyats and earrings from the elders who were sheltering inside the monastery. The military forces took taken civilians' motorcycles and over 40 cows, the group said.

 

About 10,000 residents from seven villages including Su Boke Kone, Nyaung Zin Gyi have been forced to flee due to the military and Pyusawhtee militias' offensives.
