March 24, Karenni

The junta jets conducted air strikes in Bawlakhe township in Karenni State on March 23, killing two civilians, a local resistance group said.

"Two civilians were killed in an air strike occurred at around 4 pm without any fighting," the Progressive Karenni People's Force (PKPF) said.

The PKPF also claimed in a statement that the military forces had killed four civilians including a 15 year-old boy at the border of Shan and Karenni states on March 14.

Almost 600 clashes broke out in Karenni state until the end of February since the military coup in February 2021, killing 309 civilians and 130 others were killed in refugee camps. The junta conducted a total of 197 air strikes where 30 religious buildings were also destroyed, the PKPF added.

Currently, the Bawlakhe-Hpa Saung highway and the Bawlakhe-Ywar Thit Kyi road have been shut down indefinitely due to the heightened tension in the area, the Bawlakhe People's Defense Force (BPDF) announced on March 22.
