This week’s top news centres on fighting in Northern Shan State and Sagaing.
Victory of 1027 operation
The northern alliance comprised of Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), Ta'ng National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Arakan Army (AA) conducted their 1027 armed resistance operations against the junta for two weeks.
During the first week, they seized Chin Shwe Haw, Hpawnghseng and Pang Hseng aka Kyu Koke towns and they could gain control over Namhkam, Monekoe, Kunlong and Theinni.
Some reports from the battleground alleged many junta troops were killed, disarmed and the revolutionary forces were able to seize around 150 military outposts.
Moreover, brigadier general Aung Kyaw Lwin, the highest military officer in the area, was killed in the battle of Monekone.
Revolutionary forces seize Kawlin and Khampat districts
Two district level states; Kawlin and Khampat near the Indian border were seized by an alliance of revolutionary fighters comprised of Peoples Defence Forces (PDFs) and fighters from ethnic armed group, Kachin Independence Army( KIA).
The allied forces launched the operation for several days and defeated junta troops in Kawlin and Khampat on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
Some news claimed that Pinlebu town is under control of the revolutionary forces but no official statement has not released yet.
Currently, the military rule in those townships has been suspended and allied forces are trying to intensify their attacks.
The victory near the India border came as the Brotherhood Alliance’s 1027 operation gained traction in the Northern Shan State.
NDSC called for a meeting
The State Administration Council called for the National Defence and Security Council (NDSC) meeting due to the battles in northern Shan state and Sagaing. Normally, the NDSC meeting was held only at times they want to extend the state of emergency without people's consent.
The junta claimed the battles taking place is a national security issue since the revolutionary forces are attacking junta troops to control the drug trade and other illegal businesses in these areas.
Although the military troops suffered setbacks in the battlefield, commander-in-chief General Min Aung Haling urged troops to take revenge attacks.
U Myint Swe, the military-appointed Myanmar president, said the country would disintegrate if they could not regain control of the seized towns and districts.
Junta urged celebrities in Myanmar film industry to motivate junta troops
The minister of Information urges artists in film industry to write letters to soldiers in northern Shan state and entertain their family members in order to boost their morale.
Information minister U Maung Maung Ohn said they could not accept the offensive attacks from the northern allied forces and urged the Myanmar artists to send the letters and provide assistance to soldiers in the frontline and entertain them if the things are all right.
But the Myanmar people were very pleased of news and posted the photos of actors and actresses entering into monkhood and nunhood instead of entertaining junta troops.
The joint naval drill by Myanmar military and Russia
The Myanmar junta conducted the first joint naval drill with Russia amid its military setbacks in northern Shan state and Sagaing.
The military drill was carried out in the western part of Myeik in Andaman sea from Tuesday to Thursday.
The junta media outlets said the joint drill was carried out to protect against dangers in aerial and underwater attacks.
Over 100 NLD party members were killed under arrest
According to a statement released by (National League for Democracy) NLD party on 8th November, 101 party members have been killed or arrested since the junta seized power more than two years ago.
The NLD-HRDT added 1,290 party members are being detained. Moreover, it claimed junta troops intruded in party offices at 160 times and houses of 407 members were confiscated.
NLD won a landslide victory in the November 2020 general election, winning in 920 constituencies out of 1171 and has gained 82.4 percent of public support before General Min Aung Hlaing led a military coup on February 2021, three months after the conduct of the elections.
