It's been more than 1000 days under military rule and as the time goes by, the repression has worsened. As the clashes intensified, the junta confessed their defeat in 1027 military operations across the country.

 

Former minister of information is being detained

 

Former deputy colonel U Ye Htut who was a former information minister, was arrested on 28 October for alleged violation of Section 505(a).

The accused allegedly criticized the junta and supports the people’s defence forces (PDFs).

 

He is currently detained in Alon Police Station and is set to be remanded in Insein prison.

 

Gang Dau Yang outpost was seized

 

The Gang Dau Yang junta outpost on Myitkyina-Bhamo road was seized by Kachin Independence Army ( KIA) on 31 October.

 

The Gang Dau Yang and Maliyang outposts were attacked at around 5:00 am in the morning was seized three hours later.

 

After the attack, the junta launched air strikes around Laiza. Fortunately, it did not affect the people but six houses in Jahta village were destroyed.

 

During that attack, some military officials were killed and in the response to that attack, they informed China that they would conduct air strikes near the China border.

 

China's official visits Myanmar as battles in northern Shan intensify

 

As fighting intensified in northern Shan state, Wang Xiaohong, visited the administrative capital of Naypyitaw for talks with junta top officials.

 

Wang Xiaohong is a member of  the central committee of China Communist Party and minister  of Public security.

 

He met with chief-in-commander Min Aung Hlaing and discussed the ongoing assault of the Brotherhood Alliance comprised of Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Arakan Army (AA).

 

Min Aung Hlaing assured the Chinese official that Myanmar would remain a reliable ally of China. At the same time, Chinese spokesperson Wang Wenbin  called for an end to fighting in northern Shan State and urged the Brotherhood Alliance  to participate in the peace talks.

 

US sanctioned MOGE

 

The US announced sanctions against the Ministry of Gas and Energy on 31 October. Likewise, the US sanctioned the Myanmar military for not less than 21 times.

 

In the same manner, the governments of US, UK and Canada imposed sanctions to three entities and five individuals associated with the junta.

 

Among the sanctioned entities are Sky Royal Hero Company Limited, Suntac Technologies Company Limited, Suntac International Trading Company Limited.

 

The sanctioned individuals include ministers U Charlie Than, Dr.Kan Zaw and director generals Daw Swe Swe Aung and U Zaw Min.

 

Most of the sanctions came from Canada including 39 individuals and 22 entities.

 

The European Union (EU), imposed seven sanctions against 99 individuals and 19 entities. The military said 34 individuals and 27 entities have been sanctioned by Britain.

 

More than 500 villagers killed in Karenni

 

The Progressive Karenni People's Force (PKPF) said on 01November that 533 civilians were killed in Karenni since the military seized power.

 

Starting from 1st February 2021 to 31st October 2023, 386 villagers were killed and 147 villagers died while fleeing the fighting.

 

Moreover, 1,978 buildings including religious buildings, houses, schools and clinics were destroyed within of the span two and a half years.

 

During 872 clashes in Karenni, 2,410 military soldiers  and 339 resistance fighters from KNDF/PDF/KA allied forces were killed.

 

In addition, the junta launched 637 air strikes and detained 150 villagers.

 

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) released a statement that 4,165 people were killed till 2nd November.

 

The victory of 1027 operation

 

Around 80 military outposts were seized by Brotherhood Alliance under 1027 operation.

 

The Brotherhood Alliance announced their control of Theinni, Chin Shwe Haw, Hpawnghseng and Pang Hseng aka Kyu Koke and seizure of six armoured units.

 

The military spokesperson General Zaw MinTun admitted junta troops were defeated in Chin Shwe Haw, Hpawnghseng and Pang Hseng.

 

The 1027 operation started from 27th October and has already lasted for nine days and the battles are still intensifying. Due to the military's air strikes and heavy artillery, not less than 15 villagers were killed.

 

As the consequence, the number of internally  displaced people (IDPs) reached about 20,000 in northern Shan state.

 

Charity associations said displaced people are in need of food, medicines, blankets, mosquito nets, clothes and women sanitary pads.

 

U Bein Bridge collapsed after 160 years

 

On the full moon day of Thadingyut, the 160 years old U Bein Bridge in Amarapura township collapsed due to many visitors.

Because of the accident, around 40 visitors fell into water and 20 were injured.

 

The U Bein bridge was under restoration since 2000 and before the military takeover, some tiles have been repaired.
