Monks go on strike in Pattanikkujjana

The monks in Sagaing Region started the Pattanikkujjana strike to protest the killing of Sayadaw Bhaddanta Munindabhivamsa, abbot of Win Neinmitayon Monastery in Bago Region.

Because of the junta’s failure to accept responsibility for the attack, the monks in Sagaing Chaung-U and Depayin joined the strike. Since then the protests of monks have spread in five townships in Sagaing.

Similarly, in Myaing township in nearby Magwe Region, the monks marched on the streets on June 27 to support their colleagues’ protests in Sagaing.
