Along with sizzling summer heat, the number of displaced people reached a total of 3 million. About 2.7 million of these 3 million refugees left their homes because of the conflict. Moreover, one third of them are children.

 

A jet shot down in Karenni

 

The spokesperson of Karenni Army (KA) told a local news media outlet that KA forces shot down one of the two military jets the flew over Hpasawnf township.

 

It was shot down around 11:00 am in the morning and 8 out of 11 passengers were killed. After the military takeover, at least four military helicopters and three jet fighters crashed or shot down by resistance forces.

 

Hundreds of junta troops disarmed

 

After the seizure of the Military Operations Commands (Brigade 15) in Buthidaung township by the Arakan Army (AA), hundreds of junta troops surrendered to AA. The AA released a video of the arrested soldiers and their families. Among those arrested were Muslim people who were either part of the junta forces or were collaborators of the junta regime.

 

The AA has already controlled two out of military operations commands in Rakhine.

 

KIA seized Sumprabum

 

The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) said they took control of Sumprabum City after seizing two military outposts in the area. The city of Sumprabum along the Myitkyina-Putao highway was seized two months after the clashes erupted earlier this year.

 

An article from the Kachin News Group claimed the KIA has controlled four cities including 80 military outposts after the increased reinforcement since March.

 

Age limitation of male migrant workers

 

After banning males from applying to work abroad starting on 02 May, the SAC admitted that restriction is only applicable to males of certain age.

 

They only allow men under 23 and above 31 years old to work abroad and that means they banned males who are in their prime as these young men are conscripted for military service. 

 

The SAC also admitted the ban could increase the cases of illegal migration to neighboring countries, such as Thailand.

 

Junta rejects Hun Sen proposal to meet Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

 

Former prime minister Hun Sen who is currently working as the chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly asked chief-in-commander Min Aung Hlaing to allow him to meet jailed leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi but the Cambodian leader’s proposal was rejected.

  

Military spokesperson General Zaw Min Tun said General Min Aung Hlaing refused Hun Sen’s proposal so as to prevent delay in the legal processes in which the Myanmar leader is undergoing.

 

Since Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was detained shortly after the coup in 2021, the junta only permitted former Thailand prime minister Don Pramudwinai to meet with her, ignoring the plea of other leaders.

 

Around 20 people were killed in Saw

 

On Thursday, the junta used air strikes over Akyipan Palun village in Saw township, Magway Region killing 20 people.

 

Local news reports said the junta dropped bombs while the villagers and members of the anti junta resistance forces were holding a meeting. The dead bodies were collected in the damaged monastery and the accuracy of information has not been clarified yet.
