The flames in the battlefields across the country aggravating the scorching summer heat in Myanmar. The military council is working doubly hard to gather more men from all over the country that it can recruit to its fast depleting forces, in a bid to counter the offensive of the revolutionary forces. During this week, the clashes in Rakhine are expanding and the junta’s reckless bombing and shelling increased.

 

Shelling of heavy weapon in Sittwe market

 

A shelling of heavy weapons in Myoma market in Sittwe killed 12 people and injured 30 others. Some residents said, that attack was carried out by junta’s navy troop at Sittwe port.

 

One artillery shell exploded in the vegetable market at about 8 in the morning.

 

Martial law in Mongmit and Mabein

 

The junta declared martial law on 28 February in areas bordering Shan and Kachin states, specifically in Mongmit and Mabein townships.

 

Clashes between junta troops and the alliance of anti-military forces have intensified in these places. The junta ruled declared martial rule in around 60 townships since it grabbed power in February 2021.

 

Junta officers admits to killing civilians

 

The Arakan Army (AA) showed a video in which military officers admitted to killing 7 civilians detained at the headquarters of the light infantry battalion No.378 .

 

No less than 5 officers have been convicted in the abovementioned case, including a major, a captain, and a deputy police sergeant.

 

The convicted officers initially reported the seven civilians were killed during a bombing.

 

Explosion rocks Mytel head office

 

An explosion rocked on 28 February the Mytel head office in Yangon, which is owned by junta leader General Min Aung Hlaing. The explosion injured several security forces and damaged a security post. The attack was allegedly carried out by Yangon West People’s Defensive forces (PDFs) and Yangon Army (YA).

 

Leader in the first hijacking incident in Myanmar dies

 

A member of Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO), Saw Kyaw Aye, who played a leading role in Myanmar’s first aircraft hijacking nearly 70 years ago, died on 27 February.

 

Saw Kyaw Aye,102, was one of four members of KNDO who hijacked a passenger aircraft flying from Yangon to Kyauktaw and Sittwe on 25 June 1954.

 

Jet fighter crashed in Salin

 

A military jet fighter crashed in Salin town in Magwe Region on 29 February.

 

The aircraft, a Russian- made MIG-29, crashed about five miles from Salin. The pilots of the aircraft were rescued alive by junta light infantry forces.

 

Salin, located at the western coast of Ayeyarwaddy River, the based of three military battalions. It is about 50 miles away from Magwe airport.
