As the junta rule drags on, the brutal actions of its forces brought about more suffering and agony for the people. On one side,  the junta forces faced continued losses in its efforts to quell resistance from its rule. But as a response, they resorted to killing and torturing civilians in its desperate bid to cling to power.

 

Its brutal actions can’t be denied after watching the video of two PDF fighters burnt alive by Pyu Saw Htee forces in Myauk Khin Yan village, Gangaw township in Magwe Region.

 

Air strikes to schools in Demoso

 

The junta appears to have become irrational it its brutality, attacking civilian targets including religious buildings, schools and houses. Earlier this week, a junta aircraft dropped bombs to two schools near Daw Si Ei village and Loinanhpa village in western Demoso.

 

Due to the air strikes, four children attending the Daw Si Ei school were killed and at least 14 others were injured. Likewise, in Loinanhpa village, a 40 years old villager was killed and five people were injured including two teachers.

 

But junta shamelessly denied carrying out the air strikes. The Karenni Interim Administration Council urged NUG, UN and international institutions to take actions against the junta.

 

 

Intensified battles in Kawlin

 

Junta troops have been carrying out retaliated attacks in a bid to retake Kawlin township which has been under the administration of the National Unity Government (NUG).

 

The junta used enormous force, using artillery and bombing in those attacks and thousands of people were displaced.

 

The battles in southwestern part of Kawlin have intensified since February 7, with both sides suffering heavy losses. The junta forces focused their military offensive in southwestern part of Kawlin.

 

 

AA fighters seizes more junta outposts

 

Earlier this week, the Arakan Army (AA) raided two military outposts in Kyauktaw (No.376 light infantry battalion ) and Myauk-U ( No. 378 light infantry battalion). Moreover, they have been attacking No. 540 and 377 light infantry battalions in Myauk-U.

 

AA forces also clashed with pro-military border guard forces (BGF) in Maungdaw and as a result, the BGF troops fled to Bangladesh side for their safety. While attacking the military outpost in Kyauktaw, AA forces also destroyed some junta vessels.

 

Junta issues warrant to owner of Thahtay Kyun hotel

 

The junta issued warrant to the owner of Thahtay Kyun hotel, U Kyaw, Lin on 07 February on suspicion of conducting illegal activities in the hotel premises, including illegal online betting services and money laundering . The Thailand authorities also sought the arrest of  U Kyaw Lin for his illegal online gambling services.

 

Some changes in top 20 military positions

 

The junta made some changes to top 20 military positions including the position of joint adjutant general of military operations, regional operations commands and light infantry battalions.

 

Some of them are triangle regional commander, eastern commander, division commanders of No.33, 55 and 101 light infantry battalions.

 

Moreover the changes also include division commanders of No.11, No.22 divisions, deputy division commanders of No.8 and No.15 operations commands. Those positions are from Sagaing, Rakhine, Shan and Karen state.

 

NLD patron Thura U Tin Oo hospitalized

 

The patron of National League for Democracy (NLD) has been hospitalized in new Yangon hospital since 04 February. He is nearly 97 years old and after slipping in the bathroom in 2017, he suffered from palsy and often went to hospital. His detailed health condition is not clarified because of the limitation of visitors.
