Cyclonic storm Mocha gains strength

The cyclonic storm Mocha currently located in the Southeast of Bay of Bengal and middle of Bay of Bengal has gained strength as of 9:30 am on May 12, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology announced.

 

The Department raised an orange level warning on Mocha that is likely to be move toward the coastline of Bangladesh-Burma.

 

It is projected to move to North-Northeast and predicted to make landfall between Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh and Sittwe and Kyaukphyu in Rakhine State, Burma on May 14.

 

The World Food Program stated on May 11 that the storm can affect over 17 million people including those in Rakhine, Chin and Shan states as well as Sagaing, Magway, Mandala and Bago regions.
