Cargo trucks stuck along the Asia road due to fighting between resistance forces and junta troops were hit by military shelling but no one was reported injured.
The regime forces' artillery shell exploded near the parked trucks, which is trading between Burma and Thailand.
"We are living under the trucks," said a driver.
According to a BAP journalist, authorities are planning to send back to Myanmar over half of the truck drivers who are stuck on the route.
"Some of the drivers are going back with their own plans. But half of them are waiting for the authorities to send them back home. And there are more than 30 who are still waiting to get back home," said a source from the frontline.
More than 100 trucks as well as their 200 drivers and their families have been stuck on the Asia road due to the ongoing fighting since December 1.
Fighting also broke out in Kawkareik Chaung Taung on December 19.
