Since the people in Myanmar have been facing worsening economic situations, the junta announced the printing of 20,000 MMK cash last Sunday during a remark after sculpting " Marawisaya" Buddha image and the 1st birthday of the white elephant. But the reason behind was not explained.

 

They claimed printing of 20,000 MMK cash will be limited but didn't mention how limited the amount to be printed.

 

The new currency can be accessed if the people exchange it with torn bills and the quota is 3 20,000 sheets for one person.

 

But people think the new cash will be used to pay for the monthly salary of government workers.

 

The economists predicted SAC had few cash in hands and that's why they are printing new currency to sustain government expenditures. This could lead to higher inflation rate and rise in commodity prices.

 

Economist already observed increasing prices of basic commodities, lands, gold and dollar a few days after that announcement.

 

The price of one tical of gold reached to 36 lakhs and price of one dollar ranged from 3,300 to 3,500 MMKs in the black market.

 

Those who have a lot of cash in hands had bought flats and condominiums urgently as they are worried about the plunging value of MMK.

 

The parallel National Unity Government (NUG) announced the new 20,000 MMK cash is not legal.

 

On the other hand, the junta said that online businesses need to register under the military government and should avoid mentioning about politics.

 

If these online businesses fail to register within 6 months, their operators could serve up to 3 years in prison with fine for violations of the important merchandise service law.

 

The online entrepreneurs can get the official approval if they apply registration with necessary documents and recommendations from their ward officers. The online entrepreneurs have been hobbled by the statements.

 

Last Sunday is the 1st year commemoration of the hanging of four political prisoners by the junta. But that news was covered by the printing of new 20,000 cash.

 

The people in both domestic and international community remembered the day by holding mass prayer meetings and poetry reading.

 

Chargé d’Affaires Susan N. Stevenson shared a post about their mourning letter to remember the death of four political prisoners including Ko Jimmy and over 3,800 people that were killed during the tragedy.

On Tuesday, there was a news about the changes in accommodation of State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi from Nay Pyi Taw prison. The new accommodation for Myanmar democratic icon would be announced in the coming week.

 

The consecration ceremony of the sitting Buddha image will be held on 1st August. As the remark, State Counselor was being moved to the house of deputy minister. BBC Myanmar said she had already moved to house arrest.

 

That news emerged two weeks after the meeting of State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Thailand foreign affairs minister.

 

Thabarwa Sayadaw U Ottamasara who urged the chief NLD leader, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi , to retire from politics faced protesters when he arrived at the United States.
