December 10, Sagaing

Villagers in Sagaing region are seeking for help after junta forces burned down their houses on December 2.

More than 100 homes in Kyar Paing village in Monywa township in Sagaing region were razed to the ground by rampaging junta troops, forcing many residents to flee.

"I've been told that they are currently in need of tarpaulin, kitchenware, and money," said a local aid worker.

Residents of the village are now sheltering at the refugee camps and or stayed with their relatives.

Locals said the junta forces and Pyusawhtee militia groups raided Kyar Paing village on December 2, killing some civilians and putting their bodies inside a building, before setting houses on fire.

According to aid workers, 10 bodies of civilians were recovered and most of them are men.

Kyar Paing village is located north of Taw Pu, a village where only Pyusawhtee militias live.

"Junta forces together with the militia group were responsible for the attack on the village. They took all the civilians' belongings and killed people. The remains were unidentifiable because they were badly burned," said a survivor.

Currently, around 1500 people have been displaced and sheltered at Mohnyin Thanboddhay pagoda, while many others seek refuge is nearby villages.
